Hi there, I live in Melbourne and it just seems to be getting worse down here. I reckon it’s time to sell of the car and walk, cycle or use public transport. You see down here If you park in a train station car park, the ticket inspectors can actually fine you for parking there if you aren’t gonna use the train. Seems though they got into a bit of trouble due to the fact that there was some law that didn’t allow them to do it. They are in the middle of fixing that now. The Melbourne city council is complaining big time too. They say how much parking revenue has dropped because people are driving their cars to work less and less. You know if we all started driving into work instead of using public transport they’d have a good winge about that too. Stuff the council I say, stop your winging and get on with your jobs

Hi there I found this website not long after receiving my first parking ticket just recently. I was telling my friend over coffee all about it and he told me some things you can use to contest your ticket and hopefully get it revoked. He said that they worked for him, so why not everyone.

Ok so look at the ticket you got. Make sure it contains ALL of the following.

1. Has the name and registration or serial number of the parking inspector

2. Includes the parking inspector’s station code

3. Has the car’s registration and expiry day date noted correctly

4. Includes a short title and description of the offense

5. Includes an offense code that matches the description of the offense

6. Includes the exact position of the car in the street

7. Includes the make, model, color and type of vehicle

If your ticket doesn’t contain all of these things then you have the right to contest the ticket.

Also if any of these things have happened to the sign telling you about the parking restrictions (ie: hours you can park there or no parking or whatever) , again you can contest the ticket

1. The parking sign was covered by foliage

2. Did the parking meter include the cost per hour?

3. Was the parking sign illegible or facing the wrong way?

So there you have it folks, a few things that you can use in battling the system. Good luck!

An old guy and his wife came out of the bank and saw a parking inspector giving a ticket. The old guy said that the parking guy was an ass and that he should be ashamed for giving out tickets for nothing. The inspector wrote out another ticket for a cracked window to add to the other one. The old guy went off at him again and the inspector wrote another ticket for a cracked blinker lens and added it to the others. This time the old girl went off at him and he wrote out another ticket and told the old guy and girl to stop it as he can write tickets all day.

The old guy said, that’s OK we have another half hour before the bus home arrives. That’s not our car but we like to have a bit of fun while in town.

I was parked in a back street for 3 minutes 20 seconds last Tuesday nigt just to duck into a shop and grab a pack of smokes, and the bastards fined me for having one wheel up on the curb! I couldn’t believe it, in such a short time at night and I get a ticket that I should never have received. Was he watching me or something? I didn’t even know they could fine you for that cause boy would they be busy all day just checking out to see how many cars they could book just for that. Next they’ll be out with the measuring tape and booking you for being 3 inches too close to the curb! I reckon that the parking inspectors here might want to look at getting security guards like they do in Auckland cause I won’t be responsible for any ‘accidents’ that might happen. Up yours council!
